This piece was inspired by the fabulous designs of artist and couturier Mariano Fortuny, who combined color and texture with ingenious cut, taking his inspiration from the velvets and brocades of the Italian fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Isadora Duncan was among the many famous clients attracted to his Venice studio. His garments emphasized the beauty of the female form in movement, just as I hope this swing tunic in deliciously draped mercerized cotton will do.(Jean Moss)
