Bowls of porridge, rice pudding, steaming mugs, sheaths of wheat hung for the birds. These socks are perfect for sleigh rides, to sipping cider by the fire.

Needles:
40” circs US size 1 or 2 depending gauge. I like to work the cuff one size down from needle I use for sock body.

Yarn:
Fingering weight sock yarn of your fiber choice. I suggest a wool, nylon blend for durability.

You will need two or three colors, I suggest a light gray, white or light blue, and coordinating shades of blue, gray or white for best results. If you want your color work to pop more use solid yarns.

Yardage will depend on foot size. I have small feet and one ball of each shade is enough for me for height shown. If you have larger feet you may need 2 balls of the main color yarn. Follow the yardage requirements typically needed to knit socks in your foot size.

Gauge:
Roughly 16 stitches to 2 inches wide and 22 rows to 2 inches high.

Notions:
2 stitch markers, or scrap yarn, to mark center of heel.
Crochet hook in small size or tapestry needle to work in ends.

Sizes:
Women’s XS, S, M and L with instructions to make smaller or larger.
