Deep in the woods in a pretty glen, lies a hidden cottage. It has stood for many years, and provides comfort and shelter for those that live there.

In the summer, the garden that surrounds the cottage is full to bursting with the most beautiful foxgloves. All through the long sunny days, the cottage windowsills are never without a vase of those wonderful blooms.

As the weather turns colder and the garden begins to hibernate, the inhabitants of the cottage start to cosy up for the winter.

A favourite pastime during this season is the knitting of mitts, designed to remind the knitter of those heady summer days.

A foxglove inspired lace panel adorns the mitts, perfect for winter gifts that have a hint of those long summer days.

This design was included in the yarn advent calendar for 2021, by Sherry Iris. If you purchased this calendar, you will receive a free download code on Day 1 of the advent.

Details

The mitts are knitted from the bottom cuff upwards, and feature a beautiful lace panel running up the hand. The thumb is constructed using gusset increases. The instructions are written for magic loop, but other methods can be used. The pattern also contains details of how to knit the mitts using mini skeins.

Size

The design is one size only, to fit a hand that measures 7-8 inches in circumference. You can adjust the size by changing needle size and/or weight of yarn.

Yarn

The pattern sample is knitted using Eden Cottage Yarns in the shade ‘Flowering Currant’. The second sample in the pattern was knitted using various mini skeins by Sherry Iris.
