The inspiration for Frederick & Anne came from a beautiful braid of Finn top I purchased from Kelpie Fibers. The colorway was named “Persuasion”, which is my favorite Jane Austen novel. I immediately set about figuring out what to do with this gorgeous fiber, and decided to spin up a two ply and knit something lacy.

After swatching, ripping, and then knitting up an original design, I saw the call for submissions in the Austentations Fiber Artists group. I decided to take the leap and submitted my first design to Interweave.

I’m thrilled that they decided to publish it in Jane Austen Knits 2011, and am already concocting something for Jane Austen Knits 2012!

This pattern is also published in Spin Off Fall 2011 under the name “Persuasion Scarf” and knitted is the original handspun version.

You can see the larger gauge hand spun version in Spin Off Fall 2011.
