The Fresco Blanket was designed using different stitches to make a beautiful baby blanket. There is a lot of texture to this blanket with ruffles and raised rows.

You can make the blanket in one solid colour, or use a variegated yarn to break up the solid colour. Feel free to change colours where you like. I have written the pattern in a way that is easy to use one colour and also including the colour changes of Main Colour and Contrasting Colours which show off the stitches really well.

There are 2 options for a border for this blanket – one is lacey and perfect for a girl and the other is a straight edged border which is great for a boy or to keep it neutral.

The completed blanket does not lay completely flat, which is what I wanted when I designed this pattern. It is supposed to be a bit ruffled and pleated.

The stitches used in this pattern are as follows :

  • Chains
  • Single crochet
  • Half double crochet
  • Double crochet
  • Treble crochet
  • Back post single crochet
  • Back post double crochet
  • Puff stitch
  • Working in back loops only

Gauge, specific yarn and hook size is not critical for this project.
I have stated the yarn and hook size I have used in the pattern notes.

Don’t forget to add your completed project to Ravelry. I would love to see them!
