The Friday Harbor Vest was inspired by a beautiful sunrise on a cold February morning: the waters of the Salish sea glowed, framing the dark outlines of the San Juan Islands; the mountains were visible in all directions, and the spiky evergreens show up against the peachy sunrise. The golden lights of a houseboat signal home.

This is a classic V-neck Fair Isle vest, with corrugated ribbing at the hem, neck, and arms. The motifs are geometric, which makes the knitting go quickly. It is knit in the round from the bottom up.

The Friday Harbor Vest uses 11 shades of Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift yarn in shades of blue ranging from clear blue to blue-greens to slightly violet, plus peach, gold, and deep green.

The pattern includes instructions for setting up and securing the steek. There are also notes on how to adjust the shoulder width for a flattering fit.
