All of the many, many pieces of clothing I made for my youngest before he was born turned out to be huge on him even though he was a large-ish newborn.

One shirt was almost what I needed, and this shirt is based off that pattern. I made a ton of alterations to the pattern…and then realized the other one is no longer available anyway.

So I decided to write this pattern down and upload it. The shirt is simple, airy (so, good for upcoming summer babies!), and worked on only 52 stitches total for most of the pattern, and there’s not a single purl stitch to be found. All of this works together to make a very quick knit. If you use the recommended yarn, you can get quite a few colorblock shirts out of one skein, meaning these shirts are even cheaper than the packaged white Gerber shirts--and much cuter.
