The original pattern was knit in a sport weight yarn. It fits about a 6 - 9 month size.

The pattern includes a bigger size, 1-3 years, knit in worsted weight, on 4 1/2 mm needles.

Gauge: 22sts & 40 rows = 4 inches, for smaller hat;
or 18 sts & 34 rows= 4 inches, for bigger hat.
