From Hungary with Love
Jar lid cover pattern with charts, row by row written instructions and video demonstrations.
From Hungary with Love is a jolly little piece that can be whipped up in no time, even as a last minute gift with a personal touch.
It was a similar design too, I did not plan on making such a thing. As I was about to send a parcel for a friend I had a whim to include a home made sun dried tomato jar for her since I know she likes them. But one can’t just send a naked jar if one is into knitting… She lives abroad and I knew she would appreciate a piece of home as well, in the form of our national colours. And so the pattern was born.
Apart from being a cute and quick project the cover is also a good chance to learn/practice knitting a circle from the inside out, as well as making applied (knitted on) borders and i-cords.
Yarn - any type (more decorative in thinner yarns)
Needles - suitable for yarn chosen, 1-2 sizes smaller than recommended on the yarn label, DPNs or circulars (if using magic loop)
Gauge - any
Size - adjustable
Required skills/techniques:
- basic knitting (in the round and flat)
- pinhole cast on
- casting on onto left needle
- applied borders
- seaming edges
- i-cords

“- Cute little pattern. It reminded me of the crocheted toilet paper cover dolls that were popular with little old ladies in the 60s and 70s in the US!”
“- Perfect!”
“- What a really nice project!”
“- The pattern is very good. I enjoyed to make this, have lots of ideas to use some parts of this pattern in other projects.”
