Front Range is the expanded children’s version of the free Bitty Front Range for babies. The cardigan, sized 1-12years and knit in dk or light worsted yarn, is worked top down and features a three button closure, garter stitch edging and a broken rib yoke with directions for cap, short and ¾” sleeve lengths. Includes instructions for fabric buttons.
Gauge: 20sts x 28 rows=4” in stockinette on larger needles (row stitches are very important for the yoke portion of the cardi, 7sts=1” of row)
Approximate finished chest measurement:
-Quince & Co Phoebe yarn(301yds) 2(2,3,3,3,4,4)skeins for ¾” sleeves, shown in Mercury on older child in size 6, or equivalent yardage of Wool Maiden Guinnevere, shown in Nettles on the younger child in a size 4, or other DK/light worsted yarn. Less yarn will be used for short and cap sleeves, more for longer sleeves.
-Size 6 24” circular and double pointed needles, or size to get gauge.
-Size 5 24” circular and double pointed needles, or one size smaller than gauge.
-three ¾” buttons, or to make fabric buttons you will need scraps of fabric and ¾” half ball cover buttons (I like the brass ones and buy them at JoAnns)
Pattern note: In the yoke repeat rows, the P1,K1 will NOT always end as a pair when you get to the last 5sts. Some rows (those between the 1st and 2nd increase rows and those after the 3rd increase row) will end as a P1 when you get to the last 5sts.
