Front Royal is a classic Aran pullover that uses simple cables interspersed with panels of seed stitch. It is an intermediate-level design that would make a great first cable sweater. It’s worked flat from the bottom up, then the fronts and back are seamed and the sleeves are made by picking up stitches around the armhole and using short rows to shape the sleeve cap. If desired, it can be worked in one piece to the armholes. The sleeves are slightly dropped.

Gauge is 20 st in 4 inches in stockinette st, and 25 st/4 inches in the cable and seed stitch pattern. You will need circular or long straight needles in sizes US 7 for the body and US 5 for the ribbing, and short (16” ) circulars for the sleeves, which are worked in the round.

Front Royal was tech edited by Nancy Bellamy at livetoknit.com and test knit by biloulou, GinnyG, moaningminnie, BR7394 and tchfyz51. Thanks, everyone!
