Knit from a soft, hand painted, aran weight merino, Fulton was designed for a workshop for brand new knitters. I designed this hat to introduce these newbie knitters to several techniques as they practiced and progressed with their knitting skills.
Beginning with garter stitch on straight needles, the pattern progresses to knitting in the round, decreases, using double pointed needles and finally to finishing and sewing a seam. This four hour workshop took place in New York City on Fulton Street, hence it seemed like a fitting name for this hat. Once the home to the famous Fulton Street Fish Market , this hat design also reminds me of a snug fitting fisherman’s cap.
