Funnel Vision is an incredibly cozy brioche-stitch cowl with a flare at the bottom so it can sit neatly on the shoulders and close the gap between cowl and coat in the winter months. It gives the appearance of a turtleneck sweater without the bulk of the entire garment. The cowl can be worn doubled for extra warmth around the neck or pulled up to cover the lower face.

Using simple brioche increases in raglan shaping, this is a suitable project for a brioche beginner. A tubular cast-on and bind-off add a refined finish.

Most of the cowl can be knit comfortably on a 16” circular needle. As the stitch count rapidly increases for the flare, however, it may be necessary to transfer stitches to a 24” and/or 32” circular. Adjust circular needle length as needed for comfort. DPNs or a long circular and the magic loop method may be used as well.
