Furrow is a lightweight, reversible cowl in two sizes. This is a textured pattern that only looks complicated. The cast on edge is straight and the opposite edge has a lovely, gentle scallop. No finishing required, unless you opt for the reverse single crochet edge along the cast on row.

Both sizes begin with Foundation Double Crochet. This is an easy pattern to memorize, and once you master front post double crochet (it’s easy!) you’ll whip up Furrow in no time. With Hempathy it’s a perfect summer cowl that will take you right into late fall. Or try it with a soft, warm wool or wool blend to take you through winter.

Furrow can be worked in two sizes:

Finished Measurements
Short Cowl – 25” around, 9” wide
Long Cowl – 41” around, 6” wide

Gauge
19 fdc (foundation double crochet) and 11.5 rows = 4 inches

Materials

  • Both the long and short version of Furrow use 2 balls of Hempathy.
  • Crochet Hook 3.5 mm

Since you’ll have to join a new ball of yarn halfway through this pattern, I recommend you use the Magic Knot. You can find it here. It’s the best way I found to join the new ball and have the little knot disappear into the fabric.
