In Utah, where I live, the winter can be very cold. The state slogan is “The greatest snow on earth” and I can’t agree with this more. Our valley is surrounded by majestic and breathtaking mountains which are adorned with at least one snow resort on each peak. I wanted to capture the Utah winter by creating a hat that represents the beautiful snow that often covers our 6.25-acre farm during the winter, while also creating a hat that provides the necessary warmth needed on a cold, Utah evening. This hat accomplishes both! The design is made by alternating rows of lace snowflakes and clusters of bobble snowballs. The hat is knit holding a strand of DK weight yarn with a strand of Mohair lace to create a winter hat with a glow of soft fuzz. You can also add a little style by sewing a pompom onto the top of the hat after you have completed it. I have included sizes child XS up to an adult large.
