This pattern is an add-on to the Elephant in a China Cup. Ganesha is a two-in-one toy as well: Ganesha sits in a sugar bowl, where he is quite happy, and you can fold the bowl into Ganesha.

What do you need? Scraps of any yarn, DK or Worsted, merino or cotton will work. Since it is a toy for a toddler, you might like to use a washable yarn. At least three colors are needed to make this toy. You will need approximately 50 yards of yarn altogether: One color for the bowl and another for Ganesha. You can use any complimenting color for Ganesha’s face. To add more fun to the toy and to use up more scraps you can use different colors for Ganesha’s head and also for the handles and lid of the sugar bowl. You will also need a bit of fiberfill for the head.

What skills are required to knit this toy? You need to be comfortable using double pointed needles. Otherwise the making of this toy requires knitting skills like knit, purl, increase, decrease, and I-cord. Change of color is optional. You will need to embroider facial features, and you’ll pick up stitches to connect Ganesha to the bowl.
