Garb Sweater
Garb Sweater is a bold, effortlessly cool statement piece with a raw, deconstructed feel. Worked top-down in stockinette stitch, it begins with a shaped neckline, followed by German Short Rows to contour the back neck for an improved fit. The yoke is constructed with saddle shoulder increases that seamlessly transition into arm increases, creating a structured yet relaxed silhouette. Once the yoke is complete, the body and sleeves are separated and worked individually.
The name Garb is a playful nod to garbage—a reflection of the sweater’s intentionally messy, meshy, and slightly trashy aesthetic. Knit with a single strand of fat mohair on 15 mm needles, it creates an airy yet textured fabric that feels both grunge and high fashion. Best of all, this design requires very little yarn, making it the perfect project for those odd skeins and leftover fibers lingering in your stash.
Whether styled over a slip dress or layered with your favorite basics, the Garb Sweater is all about embracing imperfection and making something beautiful out of what’s already there.
