Shawl Construction - This is a crescent-shaped, Scottish-themed garden shawl. It starts with a unique, stretchy YO (yarnover) Garter Tab Cast On and increases within the various design elements. As we begin our knitting stroll through the garden, we will knit the seed stitch and the five petal Scots Rose. This rose has been used as a Scottish Emblem since the time of ‘Bonnie Prince Charlie’. The shawl would not be complete without the regal thistles, highlighting the flowers’ beauty and a special place in our adventure. A simple lace field of flowers will be added and toward the end of our knitting journey, a beautiful bluebell border. Did you know that in Celtic folklore, the bluebell is associated with the goddess Brigid, the patroness of poetry, crafts and healing? It is said that she would weave a carpet of bluebells for the faerie folk to dance upon. What a wonderful, enchanting vision. The Garden in the Glen Shawl is perfect to wrap around your shoulders on a cool day while strolling through a forest of bluebells. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to hear the faerie folk celebrating.
