Happy Gift Knitting!

Walking through our small beach town, I was stopped by the classic beauty of a Zinnia. The grand size of the flower caught my eye but it was the complex subtleties that drew my full attention. Inspired by this striking magenta flower with tiny yellow stars popping up in the middle like flowers within a flower, Garden of Zinn was born.

Knit in the round, Garden of Zinn begins with a ribbed brim then transitions to a charted two-color stranded knitting stockinette body. Crown decreases are written. This hat fits comfortably in the body and has a gathered crown.

Finished dimensions and fit 0-2” / 0-5cm negative ease:
XS - 8.75 x 8.5” (22 x 21.5cm) fits 17.5-19.5”/45-50cm
Small - 9.75 x 8.75” (24.75 x 22cm) fits 19.5-21.5”/50-55cm
Medium - 11 x 9.25” (28 x 23.5cm) fits 22-24”/56-61cm
Large/XL - 12 x 10” (30.5 x 25.5cm) fits 24-26”/61-66cm

Techniques:
Knitting in the round, stranded knitting 2 colors per round, working from a chart for color placement

Skill Level:
Adventurous beginner to intermediate

Yardage/weight estimates (for largest size):
MC (garnet in sample) 116yds / 53g
CC (Noro in sample) 72yds / 26g

Materials:
Stitch markers, darning needle

Notes:
Row gauge is critical. If row gauge is off your hat will be too short or too long because the entire hat is charted. Be sure to swatch or, at the very least, check gauge before starting the decreases. Approximate measurements after completing the chart are provided so that you may adjust accordingly.
