This simple little garter stitch bear pattern can be knit in many sizes. Pick a yarn and a needle size then knit one - or two or three or more. The yarn can be knit doubled for a larger bear. Gauge is not critical. The needle size should create a knit fabric that will not have the stuffing peeking through the stitches. The bear in the photograph was knit with size 10.5/6.5 mm needles but size 9/5.5 mm would work well, too. Polyester stuffing makes the softest bear. The resulting bear should be washable and soft to hold.

Because this bear is a simple one, it can be donated to hospitals. I’ve been told that Alzheimer patients love holding this bear, too. If you knit one, please also create a project page on Ravelry so others can enjoy seeing your bears.

Be sure to check out sanjosemom’s project - the pink bear in the photographs. She knit this on her knitting machine!

Also notice dptalent’s tiny bear project. So sweet!
