This is a rectangular shaped cushion with a finished size of 40x30cm. It is worked in three pieces. The front of the cushion is knitted first and then the back of the cushion is knitted in two pieces; a bottom and a top. The top back piece has a contrasting coloured edging with buttonholes.

The fish applique is a knitted square which is then felted in a washing machine. After felting, the fish shape is cut out with a pair of sharp scissors,

Instructions for this cushion are provided in written format only. However, there is a guide on page 8 showing the layout of each piece (you will calculate the labelled dimensions Ⓐ- Ⓔ as you work your way through the pattern).

This Garter Stitch Cushion and the felted fish applique featured on the front were both knitted using Aran weight yarn.
I used New Lanark Aran which is 100% wool and can be felted. The applique on front is a knitted square, which is felted in a washing machine. Once felted, the little fish shape is easily cut out with a pair of sharp scissors and sewn onto the front of the cushion.
