If you’re new to making crocheted socks, this pattern is one that will teach you the basic construction; but since it uses DK weight yarn rather than fingering weight, you’ll be able to finish your slippers more quickly.

The slipper sock is worked from the toe up and has an afterthought heel.

In addition to basic crochet stitches, you will be using foundation single crochet and a modified half-double crochet (mhdc) stitch (directions in pattern). The mhdc is a firm, textured stitch but still has some stretch to it - it looks a lot like the knitted garter stitch.

This pattern has been TESTED to ensure that it is as error free as possible. I can’t guarantee that you won’t find ANY typos or mistakes; but I’m confident that you will not find any major problems that would keep you from being able to complete your slippers. Please do let me know if you find something we’ve all missed - I get just as frustrated as you do with screwed up patterns!

PLEASE NOTE - I made my sample pair with some mink/cashmere yarn that has been replaced by the yarn linked here. The new yarn is the same weight/yardage as what I used (and made some awesome, luxurious socks! I mean really - MINK socks!)

My pattern testers used other yarns (see linked projects) and we found that mink yarn is ‘lighter’ per yard than most other DK yarns. I used 230 yards of the mink; my testers used the yardage shown above. I would suggest you go by the yardage rather than ozs/grams when making sure you have enough yarn for these slipper socks.
