This pattern is available for free.

This hat is started using a provisional cast on and is knitted sideways using short rows. The stripes are arranged in number of pattern repeats and builds easily the soft twist on the top of the hat. The hat is then either seamed using a 3 needles bind off.

The garter stitch border is then picked up and worked in the round.
