Knit side to side instead of the usual up and down folded over rectangle hats. Seamed across the top and side in one long seam for minimal weaving in of ends!

Level:
Beginner- You need to know how to cast on, knit, purl, bind off

Size: Adult 20-22 inches around

To make the hat you will need:
-70 yards bulky weight handspun Midnightsky Fibers yarn
-40 yards bulky or super bulky novelty yarn from Midnightsky Fibers, such as coil yarn or thick and thin handspun yarn
-Size 15 needles or size to get gauge.
-A tapestry needle to weave in ends

Gauge:
1.5 stitches/inch. Do a gauge swatch to make sure you have the correct gauge.

Abbreviations:
Bulky- the bulky weight handspun
Novelty- the special accent yarns (that you need 40 yards of)

Notes:
Choose a plain yarn and one special yarn. You can mix and match several novelty handspun yarns with shorter yardage for the 40 yards needed of the special yarn, the other yarn will help keep the gauge consistent throughout.

You can also knit this entirely in one funky yarn or in stripes of as many handspun yarns as you would like, but keeping some stripe pattern in it helps even out any differences in thickness of the yarn.

The hat is knit from side to side instead of top to bottom. The cast on and bind off edge for the side seam of the hat, and the edges for the top and bottom of the hat.
