Gefen, named for the Hebrew word for “vine,” is knit in the round from the bottom edge to the top. It consists of garter stitch borders surrounding a surprisingly simple lace pattern.

Knit as written, this cowl is the perfect size for tucking into a jacket collar on a cold winter day, but it is also easy to modify by altering the number of stitches to fit more or fewer repeats of the lace pattern.

Gauge is not critical for this pattern. Go for a needle size that gives you a fabric you like.

Finished measurements with the given gauge:
Height: 10 inches
Circumference: 22 inches

Stitch patterns are charted only. Construction instructions are written.
