SUMMARY: Gem is a loose fitting, rolled-brim hat knit in 2 pieces – a body or main section and a crown section. The pattern in the body is Stockinette stitch with purl ridges marking decrease rows, finishing in Stockinette stitch for the brim, while the crown is plain Stockinette stitch. The pieces are sewn together in the finishing stages to form a ridge on the right side. A reinforcing Petersham ribbon is sewn into the hat for stability at the forehead.
