Plasmid is the 6th DNA headwear knitting pattern designed for the March for Science on April 22, 2016. This evolution of the DNA Cable is perfect for warm weather climates, it can be worn on the head or around the brim of a sun hat.

GENEie Plasmid is knit flat with cable stitches on both the RS and WS of the fabric. The entire pattern is available both as a chart and as full line-by-line written instructions.

The GENEie Plasmid DNA Headband knitting pattern is written for the finished object to be 18” around which fits a 22” head easily. Of all of the GENEie Hat Collection, the GENEie Plasmid is the easiest to adapt to different yarn weights and different gauges. Cast on and knit until you reach the desired length and then stitch (or graft) the ends together.

If you don’t want to deal with cables on the WS of the fabric, I have also provided a chart and instructions to knit a GENEie Plasmid headband in the round.
