Inspiration:
I wanted to do knit lace stranded.…Double coloured lace, WHAT? Yes, you read right. I will hooligan my way around knitting lace in 2 contrasting colours.
Yes, this pattern can be knitted in 1 colour, but you must admit the effects are so much “cooler” in 2. The lace eyelets, allow a slight peek to the wrong side, showing off the floats.
If you have followed the growth of Woolly Hooligan designs, you must know, I love them “floats”. I loved making this shawl, its super “funky” modern and eye-catching.
The pattern is meant to challenge, but not too much to make your head hurt. Just an unconventional lace in bright punchy colours. Fun.
Modification to turn this shawl into a cape let is provided.

Sizes:
One size. Finished measurement : 55 in (139cm) x 23 in (58 cm) approx.

Gauge:
20 sts/30 rows in a 4in (10cm) blocked, swatch knitted in St st on Size 6 (4mm) needles.

Yarn:
Steeking is used in this pattern, if you are feeling uncomfortable steeking with super wash yarn, substitute with a non-super wash yarn.

Amounts needed: 1 skein=335 yards (306 meters)
English Rose (CC): 2 skeins (there will be approx. half of skein left over)
Cirrus Grey (MC): 3 skeins (there will be approx. half of skein left over)

Notions:
• Size 6 US (4mm) needles, preferably circulars with a longer cord,
• Size 3.5 mm crotchet hook,
• 2 stitch markers, one of different colour to denote the start, another to denote the steek,
• Darning needle,
• Blocking materials, recommended blocking wires and mat.

Skills required:
• Steeking, cutting and reinforcing steek,
• Knitting lace from chart,
• Knit and purl stitches, yo, ssk, k2tog,
• Sewing in ribbon finishing on the ws of work to cover the steek,
• Picking up stitches along an edge,
• Single crotchet chain,
• German short rows,
• Long tail CO,
• Stretchy bind off,
• Knitted Cast on,
• Simple seaming.

Notes about construction:
The double-coloured lace work is knitted stranded, with a steek. Steek is cut and reinforced on sewing machine (recommended if using super wash yarn), Stitches are picked up all around the edge, and border is knitted attaching to edge stitches as you go. Fringe is crocheted on.
