Made, and named, for a dear friend, this scarf is mostly reversible, that is, the pattern is not exactly the same on the reverse as on the right side, but you have to look closely to see the difference.

The fingerless gloves feature the same cable and moss pattern along the backs of the hands. Wear them alone on cool days or in a chilly office.

The set as shown was made with 3 - 50 g balls of New Lanark Double Knitting 100% pure wool, spun at the UNESCO World Heritage Site in New Lanark, Scotland. Typical of Scottish wool, it feels light in weight, softens with wear, and is very warm.

Colour shown is ‘Bramble’.

The pattern includes directions for the scarf and the matching fingerless gloves ( 4 -50g balls were used for the set).

Modifications for an Un-Ruffled version, making the set suitable for men, are also included.

A provisional cast on is used, the scarf is knit flat with 4.0mm needles, the ruffle is worked with 5.0mm needles. After casting off, the live cast on stitches are then picked up and the second ruffle made in the same way as the first one. An alternate stretchy cast on can be used if you prefer, but the join will be more obvious.

Enjoy!
