This design came about after I’d been admiring the mitred squares on a cushion that a friend was knitting. The shawl starts with a centre square. Stitches are picked up along two edges of this and side one is worked. Stitches are then picked up along the remaining edges of the square and the colours are reversed to the second side.

Yarn

The Knitting Goddess One Farm Yarn (4-ply weight; 50% Bluefaced Leicester, 50% North Country Mule); 400m/437yds per 100g skein):

2 x 100g skeins in strongly contrasting semi-solid shades, or one semi-solid and one multi-coloured yarn. Shawl shown is worked in Blue (colour A) and Pearl (colour B).
