Every part of this Gingerbread House is covered with knitted treasures. Traditional sweets line the snowy roof and between the doors and windows there are more treats as well as a snowman and a Christmas tree.

The house measures about 13 × 17 cm and is 20 cm tall; its structure is provided by plastic canvas, covered with knitting. The roof is hinged so that the house can be used to store things. It is the right size to hold my Advent Garland decorations or lots of sweets.

This pattern is the first in a series, the rest of which will be published daily, beginning on 1st December. This first pattern deals with making the actual house; it will be followed by 20 patterns, each with a different thing to add to the house. At the end of the series (21st to 24th December) there will be four patterns for knitted gingerbread ornaments which you could keep in the house.

The Gingerbread House and all its decorations are knitted in DK weight yarn. A complete list of materials is included with this pattern. You will only need very small amounts of most colours so leftover scraps can be used.

All my ravelry patterns are free to download but, if you enjoy them, please consider making a donation to the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, a charity which funds research and supports the families of children with a liver disease.
