Twin-set of short-sleeved jumper and buttoned cardigan for a child from Stitchcraft, March 1962.

Uses Patons Beehive Fingering 4-ply, 4/5/5 ounces for the jumper and 6/7/7 ounces for the cardigan, plus a small amount of contrasting colour wool for the embroidery. No. 10 and No. 12 needles (3.25 and 2.75 mm), a 5-inch zip for the neck of the jumper (back neck fastening) and 7 buttons for the cardigan (buttoned in front).

Length from shoulders: jumper 14/15/16 inches, cardigan 14.5 /15.5/16.5 inches
Sleeve seam: jumper 2.75/2.75/3 inches, cardigan 11/12/13 inches.

Tension: 7 rows and 9 stitches per inch on No. 10 (3.25 mm) needles.

Worked flat in pieces from the bottom up, jumper worked mostly in flattened-rib pattern (k5, p1), cardigan in stockinette stitch. Both garments are embellished with cross-stitch embroidery on the front and/or sleeves and blanket stitch around the neck and/or front edges.
