There are three things I love to the point of obsession: knitting, books and board games. This hat is a melding of two of them, and books weren’t invited to the party. In Dungeon Lords, by Z-man Games, you compete to build the best dungeon and hire hard-working monsters to keep those pesky adventurers out of it. The goblin is one of those monsters. He’s not very strong, but he’s loyal, excitable and adorable.

This fun hat will provide your favorite goblin (or elf) with stylish warmth as well as a fabulous conversation piece. The ears may look extremely complex, but they are worked flat separately from the hat and then folded and attached. (Don’t worry, fellow Dungeon Lords, there’s a mini photo-tutorial to walk you through the process.) The knitting itself is pretty straightforward, making this two-skein project perfect for a last-minute gift.
