A simple, easy to knit golf club cover pattern in a classic tartan plaid design!

  • Three sizes: Utility/Rescue, Wood, and Driver

  • Requires three colors of yarn: one main color and two contrast colors.

  • 100% wool yarn in worsted weight is recommended

  • Approximate total yarn requirements, without pom-pom:

    • Utility/Rescue, 75-90 yds;
    • Wood, 100-120 yds;
    • Driver 125 - 155 yds
  • Allow an extra 40-50 yds for a pom-pom or 15 yds for a tassel.

  • The specially ribbed neck of the cover is stretchy and slips on/off quickly.

  • The plaid pattern is achieved by using a special non-stranded vertical piping technique which simplifies the knitting work and economizes on yarn requirements. This technique is demonstrated in this video by the Knitting Vortex.

  • Utility/Rescue and Wood sizes use #6 double pointed needles, while the Driver uses #6 and #8 needles.

  • All sizes require a #G or #H crochet hook to create the vertical striping

  • If you like this technique and want some beautiful accessories (cowl, mittens, hat) to coordinate….check out The Knitting Vortex’ ebook, Hail, Tartania!
