Learning that licorice is such a favorite in Iceland, I decided to name this pattern after a licorice candy that was a childhood favorite of mine. This is a Good basic mitten pattern that is quick and easy- meaning you can knit Plenty! These mittens are a perfect introduction to knitting with Plotulopi, an unspun, pencil-roving style Icelandic yarn. They are knit holding two strands together, making a firm, weather resistant fabric, and also doubling the color play opportunity. Use one plate and knit them in a solid color using the inside and outside ends. Add a little band of color work if you like. Or use two plates of different colors for a marled effect. The design features a shaped gusset that can be worn on the left or right hand making them interchangeable. You might end up knitting a third mitten as a spare they are so fun and quick to knit up! Tips for shaping the gusset are included.
