Part of the “berry” family of stitch patterns, the gooseberry is extremely textural and satisfies the most discerning tactile desires. It has the appearance of bobbles; however, worked over several rows results in a more firm structure. Equally dramatic, the pillow back fabric is created with the purl-twist stitch pattern. The back and front are joined using a single crochet stitch then adorned with a reverse single crochet. This project is a relatively fast knit with big yarn and needles. Yarn requirements if choosing different colors: Front-300 yards; Back-245 yards; Single Crochet Join-28 yards; Reverse Single Crochet-26 yards. Color suggestion: solid, heather, or tweed. Gauge not critical unless different yarn weight or needle is chosen. Designed for a 20-inch pillow form. Tip-choose desired size pillow form after completing project.
