I don’t often use DK yarn, but found a beautiful huge skein of Mandala called a mandala bonus skein. I thought I would try it again. I love the way this one turned out!

You may substitute other yarn for the one cake of mandala bonus bundle if you wish. Comparable yarn= lion brand ice cream, cicibebe batik, Bernat baby sport, Mary Maxim artist palette, hobbii amigo, yarn bee soft and sleek DK, paint box baby DK, etc.

You may also substitute a medium weight yarn, if you realize you will need more yardage and your shawl will probably come out a little larger. It is the pattern itself I want tested.
Realize if you are a tight crocheter, or use a different yarn, you might not get the drape and/or need to go up a hook size.

Stitches you need to know
Foundation half double crochet

or standing DC are optional. You may substitute your favorite method of beginning a row with a DC.

Crochet in third and front loop= Crocheting in third and front loop, or back and 3rd loop=Crochet in back and third loop (insert your hook into back loop, tilt your work toward you and you will see on the back side of your work a smaller half bar/loop underneath. Insert your hook into that stitch as well. This gives your stitch a little bit more stability than using back loop only. The third and front loop will be on the front side of your work. So tilt your work away from you to see the small bar beneath the front loop. Insert your hook into the third loop first and up into the front loop and crochet your stitch.)
