This knitting pattern is for an extra long shawl that is designed to be worn double wrapped. Directions are given in the pattern for making a shorter version as well.

To knit this pattern you will need basic knitting skills and be familiar with knitting terms and changing colors. The knitting pattern is a 4 row repeat and you will need to know the knit stitch, how to knit 2 together - k2tog and how to do a yarn over - yo.

The needle size for this pattern is a US 9 - circular is recommended but you could also use straight knitting needles if you prefer. The yarn used in the photos is Hobby Lobby I Love this Yarn but other #4 weight acrylic yarns can be substituted. The yarn needed for the extra long 94 inch version is 2 skeins of color A, 2 skeins of color B and 1 skein of color C. To knit the shorter traditional length of approximately 79 inches you will only need 1 skein of each of the three colors or approximately 300 yards per skein.

Extra long shawl measures: 94 inches long by 19 inches wide
Regular length version measures: 79 inches long by 19 inches wide
