Graduate Bunny

This pattern is available from valcraftycox.wordpress.com for £2.50.

My sister completed her degree the hard way… in her forties with a family and 2 jobs to deal with at the same time, an amazing achievement. As she loves rabbits this little bunny was designed to celebrate her graduation and would be a perfect present for people you are proud of too.

I made him in her favourite purple and in the blue and red hood colours of her University, but you can easily use any colours you like. You can also just use this as a toy bunny pattern, without the academic trimmings.

since then he’s become part of a family with different outfits- available in the Hoppy Bunnies ebook.

You can use any yarn as long as all your colours are the same yarn ‘weight’ or type- different weights of yarn will give different sizes. If you use double knit (USA light worsted) weight she will be about 6 inches (15cm) high and 6.5 inches (16 cm) wide.

You will need main colour (purple in my example, about 50g of double knit) and contrast (white) for foot pads and inner ears, as well as black for gown, mortarboard hat and outer hood. You will also need colour(s) for inside of hood unless you want to make this black too. You also need some suitable wadding or other material to stuff the bunny. You could use polystyrene beads for the body if you want a more ‘bean bag’ style. You will also need buttons to use as eyes.

This is a written pattern, in English, which also has quite a few photos to illustrate some of the stages. The pieces are ‘worked flat’ with seams rather than in the round.
