This shawl is knitted from the top down. The majority of the shawl is knit in garter stitch and the fan and feather pattern is knit at the bottom edge. The three outer edges of the shawl are fringed.

I recreated this shawl from an original, which was given to me by my Aunt Rita, which is my mom’s oldest sister. The original shawl was knitted by my great grandmother for her oldest daughter Rheta. Rheta suddenly passed away at the age of 21. The shawl was then passed down to my grandmother, who later passed it down to my Aunt Rita. The original shawl is badly eaten by moths, but I plan to display it in my craft room someday.
