Seattle is surrounded by mountains – the Cascades to the East, the Olympics to the west, Rainier to the south, Baker and Adams to the north. On cloudy days though, you would never know it. When the sun comes out in Seattle, the skyline is transformed. On days like that, you will often hear Seattleites say “the mountains are out!”

I love that, after three years in Seattle, mountains are equated with sunshine-filled days in my mind. For my first original pattern, I wanted to design a “the mountains are out” sunglasses case.

This case is double-knit. This has a few advantages: colorwork without loops to snag while pulling glasses in and out of it, a doubly thick fabric to protect your sunglasses, and the option for the “mountains” to be black or white!
