Intended to be a big snuggly shawl, Great Oak knits up quickly from less than five balls of this super soft yarn. The pattern is easy to remember and can be repeated as many times as desired, meaning the design can be adapted to different yarn qualities if required. I enjoyed making this shawl; every new row of leaves cleverly produces new shoots from the stem and the top of each leaf caps off nicely to form a fluted edging. A nice variation would be to add a bead embellishment to the tip of each leaf, which would require 250 beads, but it is stunning enough in itself to be an all year round favourite.
