This unisex cardigan begins with a top-down garter yoke followed by a stitch pattern that reminded me of furrowed fields. You can vary the look from girly to neutral depending on your choice of buttons.

The sleeves are set aside on waste yarn and the body worked flat, then sleeves stitches are placed back on the needles and worked in the round. This means no finishing or seams to sew except for sewing on the buttons. (If you really hate sewing, you could substitute crocheted ties at the neckline!)

One skein is not quite enough, but two skeins leaves you with quite a bit of leftover yarn, so I added instructions for a matching hat, free of charge! :-)

The pattern is one size, which will fit baby from birth to about 3 months. I used a soft cotton yarn, but it works equally well in acrylic or soft wool.
