Grisou is a small rectangular scarf with a textured pattern made of seed stitch and cables. I designed it thinking of the stories I heard about the old coal mines in the village I grew up. Grisou is an explosive gas and a symbol of the dangerosity of the mines. I thought of those minors with their faces dirty with coal and the little scarf they would but around their neck.
This scarf is suitable for an advanced beginner and intermediate knitter. It can very well be a first cable project.

MATERIALS
100 grams = 164 yards / 150 meters
1 skein of Cascade Eco Cloud or equivalent Aran chained yarn

NEEDLES
US 9 / 5.5 mm needles or size needed to obtain gauge
1 cable needle

GAUGE
4’’ / 10 cm = 12 stitches X 18 rows in seed stitch

FINISHED DIMENSIONS
Width : 22’’ / 56 cm
Length : 14’’ / 36 cm

Grisou est une petite écharpe rectangulaire avec du point de blé et des torsades. Je l’ai créée en pensant aux histoires que j’ai entendu sur les anciennes mines du charbon du village où j’ai grandi. Le grisou est un gaz explosif, symbole de la dangerosité des mines, et c’est en référence à ces mineurs au visages salis par le charbon, avec leur petite écharpe autour du cou, que j’ai tricoté Grisou.
Ce tricot est parfait pour un débutant avancé ou un niveau intermédiaire. Il peut également être un bon projet pour apprendre les torsades.
