My parents own the Royal Victorian Manor, the house-turned-B&B that was The Cherry Street Inn in the movie Groundhog Day. The Groundhog Hat, inspired by a certain pink hat design, was made specifically to look like groundhog ears for everyone to wear for Groundhog Day festivities (and beyond).

Worked flat and constructed by sewing side seams, this hat is a quick knit and a good way to make hats without working in the round. There are two sizes: child (which I call the Chuckling Hat, because that’s what baby groundhogs are called) and adult. The matching fingerless mitts – Groundhog Fingerless Mitts - are a free pattern on my blog).
