This PDF was originally intended for UK schools but the methods are equally useful to any knitters wanting to work together on a project. It was originally produced in booklet form and has been used in many countries around the world. It was written with children in mind and has proved to be equally acceptable to adults.

The main aim of the booklet was to use mathematics in a ‘nonthreatening’ way so, in addition to the knitting information, it also includes ideas for use in mathematics lessons.

See some of the afghans made in schools, and read about teachers’ experiences. and the work of the Cheshire Women’s Institute, based on the same booklet.

The photos show three very different afghans created from the same instructions, one from Cheshire WI, the others from schools.

The pattern is free but we would like you to consider making a donation to Kidney Research UK, where we have set up a page in memory of my parents. For more information, see the Tribute Page on the Woolly Thoughts web site.
