This cowl was designed to knit with alpaca, but other fibers can be used as well. In alpaca, the lace keeps it from being too warm in our mild Southern California climate.

The Gull Lace design comes from Elizabeth Zimmermann in her February Lady sweater pattern. It is a 7-stitch, 4-row repeat and simple to memorize after a few rounds.
