This hat was designed for the Chicago Yarn Crawl 2016.

Every year during the Yarn Crawl, we try to highlight a yarn company that exemplifies who we are and what we believe in at String Theory. This year our Yarn Crawl pattern is made with Knitted Wit Victory Fingering, made sheep to skein in the United States.

We carry a lot of different hand painted yarns for two reasons. 1) We love supporting women looking for creative, flexible ways to support their families while parenting. 2) The world can always use more beautiful.

Choose a full skein of Victory Fingering for your main color and then three different “flavors” of Gumballs for the stripes. You have enough yarn in your full skein to make two hats.

The garter stitch brim is worked back and forth. Then the hat is joined in the round for the rest of the piece. The open gap in the brim allows it to rest comfortably on your neck.

Directions are provided for both a slouchy and a beanie version.
