--------------------------------------------------------Years ago after making my first linen bag I had a vision to make another in a relatively simple lace pattern. After making my first Gwendolyn Bag years ago I’ve never forgotten it. It’s my favorite bag of all the bags I’ve knit!

The bag is knit from the bottom center with a circular base, increasing until the final circumference is reached. Afterwards a gull lace pattern is repeated to form the sides of the bag until the desired height and topped with garter stitch edging. Finally a rolled stockinette stitch handle is added. The only seam finishes the bag where the strap meets the body of the bag.

YARN
Fingering weight yarn (Customizable! Scale your needles to your yarn noting you will likely need more than 100g) such as:
BC Garn Lino 50g (2 skeins)
For my sample I used approximately 70g but your final amount will depend on gauge, customizations, and yarn choice.
Tip: Use machine washable yarn to make laundering your market bags a breeze!

US 6 (4mm) set of 5 DPNs -AND-
US 6 (4mm) circular needle (either 16” or 24” length)
