Inspired by traditional European gypsy styling, this shawl design mimics overlapping layers of colors, textures and ruffles. The lace section reminds me of the ornately carved and gilded wagons of a gypsy caravan wagon.

The color patterning is achieved through the alternating use of short rows and slipped stitch patterns. Directions are also given for creating the tassels that adorn the shawl just below the sideways knitted lace insert.
